The Collectors (2004)
| Synopsis | The Olympics fascinate people in many ways, but no way is weirder than that of collectors of Olympic artefacts. From postcards to badges, from defective torches to the flag that was raised in the 1936 Berlin Olympics when Hitler entered the stadium, these items tell a different story of the Olympics. But they also say a lot about the people who collect them. Collectors are obsessive people, and the obsession often consumes them. The film combines Olympic history with personal history, shedding light onto the reasons why and how an item of no intrinsic value becomes a symbol, a medium through which a person experiences life past and present.
